The 'Celebrity XPedition' left the Damen shiprepair yard on Curacao on Feb 2 at 11.50 a.m. after repairs of its grounding damage were completed. She was assisted by two KTK tugs and was now sailing back to the Galapagos Islands with an ETA as of Feb 6.

Cruise ship grounded, passengers taken off

Wed Nov 06 13:33:04 CET 2019 Timsen

On Nov 5, 2019, all 46 passengers and 58 non essential crew members were disembarked from the 'Celebrity XPedition‘ which had run aground near the Galapagos islands in Punta Vicente Roca, northern Isabela Island, at 11.30 p.m. They were taken aboard the ‘Celebrity Flora‘ of the same company, which was nearby, and taken to Quito on Nov 6. Celebrity Cruises had already arranged hotels and flights home. The passengers of the cruise which was scheduled from Nov 2-11 will be fully refunded and offered another cruise for free. Whether the next cruise of the 'XPedition' will commence as scheduled was unknown to date. The ship was refloated 30 minutes after the accident with assistance of service boats and moved to the Italbaca channel where it was anchored for inspections. No damages were found so far. Galapagos Islands cruise canceled over frozen lobster

Mon Jun 03 17:26:46 CEST 2013 arnekiel

The Galapagos Islands have strict environmental regulations. Local authorities say the 98-passenger Celebrity Xpedition violated them and have pulled the ship’s permit to operate, resulting in at least one canceled cruise. The issue: frozen lobster. Celebrity Cruises was cited by the Galapagos National Park “for transportation and storage of 12 kilograms of frozen lobster tails in the Galapagos,” the cruise line said in a statement. The frozen lobster was apparently discovered during a routine inspection by park authorities. With its permit revoked, Celebrity canceled the Celebrity Xpedition’s June 2 sailing. The cruise line indicated additional sailings could be impacted. More to read at http://tucsoncitizen.com/usa-today-news/2013/06/03/galapagos-islands-cruise-canceled-over-frozen-lobster/
