Barge lost wheelhouse
The "Endeavour", 2552 ts (IMO: 9562312; EU-No.: 02332059), lost its wheelhouse in the Zevenaar Port in Terneuzen in the early morning of June 1, 2018. The roof was drifting in the Ghent-Terneuzen Canal next to the quay at the Franrijkweg. Wihle it was still unclear what exactly happened, the ship has been seriously damaged. The ship berthed at the quay at Sluiskil. Two cars on deck were badly damaged too. A sail meanwhile was pulled over the destroyed wheelhouse. The roof of the wheelhouse was salvaged meanwhile. The patrol boat "RWS 88" of Rijkswaterstaat was monitoring the operation when a Mammoet telecrane lifted the roof onto the quay at 07.20 a.m.. Employees of Rijkswaterstaat were also on board the Endeavor this morning for further inspections. Body thought to be missing Czechian recovered
On Oct 19 divers found a body in the North Port of Ludwigshafen which was thought to be the missing crew man of the "Endeavour". An autopsy was to clarify the identity.
Crew member of tank barge missing after jumping into the water after BASF explosion
After an explosion at the factory of BASF in Ludwigshafen a huge fire broke out on Oct 17, 2016. One of the two crew members of the "Endeavour" was still missing on Oct 18. The fire occurred near the wharf sz which the "Endeavour" was moored. The captain and first mate jumped over board after the explosion. One of the two was rescued and taken to a hospital. The other, a Czech who was employed on the tanker since six years, was still missing. Two employees of BASF were killed and six workers were seriously injured.
