Victim of crash identified
The Honolulu medical examiner and the victim’s family have identified the passenger of the 'Carnival Miracle' who died after a shuttle bus plowed into a group near the Honolulu cruise port on April 12. The shuttle bus driver dropping off passengers hit the gas instead of the brake and pinned several people against concrete barriers. The 68-year-old Dianna Cricelli from Pocahontas, Illinois, was taken to a hospital in critical condition, and police traffic investigators confirmed she later died. One of the others who were seriously injured was her husband, Frank Cricelli, 66. A message from the family was relayed through the Visitor Aloha Society of Hawaii, “The family is mourning the loss of Dianna. They are asking for privacy during this difficult time.” Three others were seriously injured, including a 67-year-old woman, a 55-year-old woman, and a 58-year-old man. They were also from Illinois and they were being offered assistance.
Passenger died in shuttle bus crash
One female passenger has died and 10 others were injured after a shuttle bus of the 'Carnival Miracle' crashed into the transportation area outside a Honolulu cruise terminal on April 12, 2024. A 57-year-old man was dropping off customers at pier 2 when a bystander told him that his vehicle was moving forward. He then jumped into the drivers seat, trying to stop the vehicle, but he accidentally pressed the gas pedal instead of the brakes, colliding with two concrete barriers and 11 pedestrians. The ship was on a 15-day cruise which had departed Long Beach, California, on April 6. Nine of the people hit by the vehicle were cruise ship passengers. The deceased woman was traveling with her husband, who was also injured but was expected to recover. Members of the Carnival Care Team were assisting the guests. Five pedestrians were transported to the hospital. Six other pedestrians refused treatment on the scene. Speed did not appear to be a contributing factor in the collision and it was unknown if drugs or alcohol were contributing factors. Search for missing passenger suspended
AFter 32 hours, the U.S. Coast Guard has suspended its search for the woman who fell from the balcony of her stateroom on deck 5 from the 'Carnival Miracle' on Dec 11 off the coast of Mexico. The USCG assets were standing down pending additional information on Dec 12 at 10:36 a.m. The USCG assets were transiting back to U.S. waters. Security camera footage captured the woman, believed to be in her 20s, falling overboard around 3:30 a.m. 35 miles off the Mexican coast, near Ensenada. the 'Carnival Miracle' docked at the Carnival Cruise terminal in Long Beach in the morning of Dec 12. The Southern California Coast Guard had been working to locate the woman, alongside with a USCG helicopter crew based in San Diego and the Mexican navy.
