Vessel seized after cocaine was found behind cabin walls
The U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) had seized 42 pounds of cocaine and the 'Carib Trader II' in the Miami River, on Feb 28, 2020. The cocaine has an estimated wholesale value of $400,000. The drugs were concealed behind the interior walls of one of the vessel's cabins. CBP officers made the discovery when they used a power tool to drill into a wall and found a white powdery substance on the tip of the drill. The vessel had sailed from Gonaives, Haiti, and stopped in Bimini before arriving at the Miami River.
