Thu Mar 17 10:14:54 CET 2016 Timsen

The "Capt. Thomas Paul" of the Coast Guard, along with state and local agencies, continued to respond to a fire on the Berry Lake Platform near Bayou Sorrel on Mar 16, 2016. Response crews extinguished the fire around 1 p.m., and remained on scene to monitor the situation. Thus far, there has been a minimum amount of pollution released and is expected to dissipate naturally. The Coast Guard Captain of the Port New Orleans established a safety zone around the incident site, while crews continue response efforts. Personnel at MSU Baton Rouge was notified on MAr 15 at 9:15 a.m., that an oil production platform in Bayou Sorrel caught fire while in the process of being dismantled.
