Tractor trailer slipped off barge

Tue Jul 31 11:15:05 CEST 2018 Timsen

A tractor-truck partially fell off the barge USDS "Brandon Randall" which was pushed by the "Capt. Cooper" from Soutport to the Bald Head Island resort, and was partially submerged in the Cape Fear River near Bald Head Island in the morning of July 30. After the SpartanNash grocery truck slipped off the barge, its engine compartment was submerged. No one was injured. The Coast Guard sent a 47-fft-boat crew to rescue the two people stuck inside the 18 wheeler. The barge was eventually pushed into the Deep Point Marina in Southport.
