Captain stable after medevac
The master of the "Cape Valencia" was reported to be in stable condition after the medevac on Aug 11. The NSRI Richards Bay volunteer sea rescue duty crew were alerted by Netcare 911 to be on stand-by on Aug 10. On Aug 11 at 12.30 a.m. the NSRI Richards Bay volunteer sea rescue duty crew, accompanied by a Netcare 911 paramedic, launched the sea rescue craft "Spirit of Richards Bay" and responded to rendezvous with the ship 7 nautical miles off-shore of Richards Bay, and the patient was stablized by the paramedic and transferred onto zjr sea rescue craft and was brought into Richards Bay Port and he has been transported to hospital by a Netcare 911 ambulance. Master medically evacuated, SAR
SAR Sea Rescue NSRI reported medical evacuation of the Master of capsize bulk carrier Cape Valencia on August 11 2012 7 miles off Richards Bay. Master of the vessel, Rajpal Singh, was suspected to be suffering Pancreatitis. He was transferred on board of rescue boat and then taken to hospital. Vessel had to call Richards Bay and anchor at the Road presumably either to wait for Captain to be relieved from the hospital, or for a new one. Vessel is en route from Tubarao to reportedly Mumbai.
