Barge listing in the port of Rotterdam
In the evening of Feb 17, 2014, the "Canal Services 7", 1043 ts (EU-No.: 8848009), started to list to port at the quay of Meneba in the Maas Port of Rotterdam, where it had berthed at 6 p.m. Timewise it heeled ten degrees to port so that the upper deck was partially submerged. The ship with a crew of four had on board a cargo of 1000 tons barley bound for Rotterdam in Duisburg where it had sailed at 5.30 a.m. The fire brigade, police and Port Authority were on scene and started to pump water from the ship. In addition, the ship was accelerated unloaded and slowly came up again. The list was probably caused by incorrect loading.
