The "Camaro VI", 2291 ts (EU-No.: 02336362), which had just sailed with a cargo of containers from Birsfelden, suffered a main engine failure and was disabled in Basel on July 18, 2019, at 6.30 p.m. and allided with two Rhine bridges. Only the bow thruster had kept working. The fire brigade was alerted and escorted the ship with a fire boat while it drifted downstream and first allided with the Middle Bridge and then hit a pillar of the Johanniter Bridge. Underneath the Three Roses Bridge the crew of two along with the embarked oilot managed to stop the drift and secure the vessel at the shore. The police barred the Rhine for ship traffic until the barge was safely berthed in Basel port. She left the port on July 19 at 6.25 p.m. and headed to Weil upon Rhine, where it berthed at 8.45 p.m. and remained stationary since.
