Speedy motoryacht stopped after transit of Kiel Canal in record time
The water police Brunsbüttel on Aug 27, 2012, stopped the 22-m-yacht "Skylark" which obviously had tried to tranist the Kiel Canal in record time. On the hundred-kilometer route between Kiel and Brunsbüttel the 42-year-old master disobeyed traffic signs and passed several merchant ships at the right side at excessive speed. The ship had entered the canal in Kiel at noon and reached Ostermoor at 6 p.m. The man said that he had not been informed of the specific traffic rules in the Kiel Canal. Before he was allowed to continue his trip to France, he had to pay 700 euros as a deposit, now he is waiting for a fine. After all, he suffered a time loss as the investigations in Brunsbüttel lasted from 7 to 10 p.m.
