Engine shutdown as protection caused power loss
The "Fosenbulk" is now running on her own engine and was enroute to Rissa to deliver the cargo. The engine had conked out on Mar 12. The Coast Guard vessels "Njord" and "Harstad" had assisted, and in heavy seas and strong winds three crew members of the "Harstad" as well as the mate of the "Fosenbulk" boarded the abandoned ship in a skiff in spite of the seas which had a height of 7-8 meters. The fastened a rope so that the ship could be pulled to safety by the "Harstad". The tow went smoothlyin spite of the bad weather. While the "Fosenbulk" was hauled back into the Namsenfjord, engineers from the Coast Guard and the "Fosenbulk" were working on engine repairs and finally got itstarted. They eventually found out that the engine had shut itself down when the propeller got out of the water in the high waves. When the cause was discovered the engineers quickly were able to start the engine. Norwegian report with photo and video: http://www.nrk.no/trondelag/derfor-havarerte-fosenbulk-1.11602668
