Crack in the hull
The "Heina" suffered a crack in the port side hull, while approaching the Juan De Fuca Strait, British Columbia, in position 48 13.1 N, 125 25.8 W, on Feb 17, 2019, at 8.10 p.m. The vessel esd holding off shore until an assessment was done by a classification society, a repair plan developed and a suitable tug was available to escort the vessel into the Juan De Fuca Strait. On Feb 21 at 2.30 p.m. the ship moored off Vancouver in pos. 49° 18.39' N 123° 12.01' W.
Aramatha assisted in rescue of distressed yacht crew
After the yacht "Morning Tide" lost its communication equipment when it was swamped in high seas and was taking on water on June 11, 2012, around midnight, off Byron Bay, the "Amarantha" located the yacht but could not conduct a rescue of the crew of two due to the heavy conditions. It remained on standby until two rescue helicopters arrived. They pair was successfully winched and were treated for hypothermia and fatigue in-transit to Brisbane's Princess Alexandra Hospital. The "Morning Tide" - an eleven times Sydney to Hobart entrant - had reported engine trouble and communication problems en-route to Brisbane from the NSW Central Coast.
