Trawler sank in Murmansk
The decommissioned 'Briz' suffered a partially flooding in the night of Jan 14, 2021, and capsized near the pier of the Murmansk Shipyard. It was heavily listing to starboard side with its stern submerged. The North-West Transport Prosecutor launched an investigation into the accident aboard the fishing vessel. The sinking could have been caused by icing. The ship was towed to Murmansk in 2018 and had been due to be recyled in port. Trawler disabled in Barents Sea
The "Briz" with 29 crew members on board was disabled about 233 miles north of Cape Kanin Nos in the Barents Sea when it experienced a major engine failure on March 12, 2018. The owner decided to have the vessel towed to the port of Murmansk for repairs. The salvage tug "Murmanryba" was deployed to take the trawler in tow 230 miles from Varandey.
Trawler disabled by the trawl
The "Briz" got the propeller fouled by its trawl in the early morning of May 29, 2016, in the Barents Sea, west of the Island Novaya Zemlya. The vessel was disabled and adrift, and the salvage tug "Murmanryba" (IMO: 7830868) was sent to tow the trawler to safety.
