Sea Shepherd's 'Brigitte Bardot' 'intercepts Japanese whaling fleet in Southern Ocean
ANTI-WHALING activist group Sea Shepherd says it has intercepted the Japanese fleet in its annual Southern Ocean hunt "before a single harpoon has been fired". Sea Shepherd claims to have saved the lives of 4000 whales over the past eight whaling seasons with ever-greater campaigns of harassment against the Japanese harpoon fleet. Sea Shepherd ship Brigitte Bardot expelled from Fiji
The Sea Shepherd Conservation Society says its anti-whaling ship, the Brigitte Bardot, has been expelled from Fiji. It says the ship was in Suva when it was boarded by local navy and immigration officials and told to get out of Fijian waters. Sea Shepherd says a week ago the anti-whaling vessel was given permission to enter Fiji. http://www.radioaustralia.net.au/international/radio/program/pacific-beat/sea-shepherd-expelled-from-fiji/1018182
Previously banned Sea Shepherd ship in for repairs at port of Suva
The Sea Shepherd-owned MV Brigitte Bardot has been allowed into Fiji, three months after being denied entry by the government. The anti-whaling vessel — which engages in confrontational approaches with whaling ships — was anchored in the Suva Harbour close to the Royal Suva Yacht Club yesterday. In June this year, the Fiji Ministry of Defence released a statement saying the Sea Shepherd Conservation Group was not welcome in Fiji.
