Three injured in collision on the Elbe

In the evening of June 19, 2013, the "Bürgermeister Weichmann - WS 2" was in collision with the 6,53-m-leisure boat "Maru" with homeport Wedel on the Elbe. The crew of three of the "Maru" was seriously injured. The "Bürgermeister Weichmann” was underway on the lower Elbe, when the "Maru" approached at buoy 122 and suddenly crossed behind the stern of the cargo vessel “Wilma” with high speed. then hitting the bow of the police boat which launched its small boat "WS 62" to rescue the boat drivers. The "Maru" was towed to Schulau where the three men were medically treated before being taken to hospital. They were found to be intoxicated and blood tested. The "Maru" was severely damaged. The police found empty beer bottles and vodka as well as marihuana on board. The boat was secured in Wedel for investigations. The police boat only suffered scratches.
