Engine trouble off Stornoway

Sun Mar 29 15:38:29 CEST 2020 Timsen

On March 28, 2020, at 8.05 a.m. the 'Brennholm', with a crew of 10 and 850 tonnes of white fish on board required a change of an injector in the engine 15 miles from Lochinver in position 58 11 00 N, 005 43 00 W. At 10.20 a.m. it was reported to the Stornoway Coastguard that the engine had been repaired and the fish carrier was heading towards Stornoway anchorage to carry out further tests. At 10.50 a.m. it stopped engines again to carry out tests. The Coastguard Emergency Towing Vessel 'Ievoli Black' which was in the Minch about 27 miles away would have been available if required. It is currently about 27 nautical miles away. There were North or northeastern winds of 5 to 7 Beaufort and a swell of 1,5 metres. At 11.45 a.m. the Coastguard was notified that the crew had finished adjustments to their engine and the ship was continuing its voyage to Husøy. It safely berthed in the port in the Øyfjord on March 29 at 11.15 p.m.
