Double blackout on Wester Scheldt
Enroute from Tarragona to Antwerp, the "Bow Spring" twice suffered an engine failure in the morning of Nov 2, 2017, on the Wester Scheldt. The first blackout occurred at 8.05 a.m. west of Terneuzen. After a while, the crew managed to get the engine running again, but it was not for long when another blackout occurred. The ship dropped anchor and was then taken in tow by tugs to the Terneuzen Put for further investigations. It was held in position by the tugs “Braakman” (IMO: 8915457), and „Gent“ (IMO: 8409306) with the “RWS 78” of Rijskwaterstaat as guard. The tanker was towed into the Doel Dock in Antwerp at 6 p.m by the tugs "Tug 21" (IMO: 6503824) and "Tug 31 (IMO: 6105142) after they had taken over. The tanker left the port of Antwerp again on Nov 6 at 9 p.m., bound for Rotterdam, ETA Nov 7, 4 p.m. She moored on RTM Anchorage in the early morning hours.
