Engine failure off Bosphorus
The 'Bourda' suffered an engine failure, while approaching the Bosphorus en route from Novorossiysk to Istanbul on April 4, 2022, at around 8 a.m. UTC. Coastal Safety deployed the tugs Kurtarma 8' and 'Kurtarma 12' to assist. The ship was safely moored at the Türkeli anchorage for troubleshooting. Tanker detained in Algeciras
The "Stena Conqueror" was detained by the Port Authority of the Bay of Algeciras (APBA)after having been the cause of several complaints from residents of Algeciras, specifically the surroundings of Getares beach, who remarked an intense gas smell from the chemical tanker after a presumed vent of the tanks during on Nov 8, 2017. The APBA has ordered the immobilization of the tanker by incurring an unauthorized activity on the anchorage of the Port of Algeciras and had to remain in the port of until depositing the corresponding guarantee. Already on Nov 6 the mayor of Algeciras sent local police officers and firefighters after complaints, who could not detect any anomaly at that time. The tanker was allowed to sail after a safety deposit of 30.000 Euro was paid.
Allision in Brake
The "Stena Conqueror" allided with a wooden pier in Brake in the foremidday of May 30, 2012. The ship was coming with 9.900 tons palm oil on board from Liverpool and hit the pier while mooring in spite of the assistance of two tugs. The pier was significantly damaged and had to be closed for cargo operations as the pipes first hadto be investigated.
