15 passengers taken off grounded vessel

Fri Sep 27 09:26:48 CEST 2013 Timsen

On Sep 26, 2013, the "Boschwad" ran aground in the Westgat between the Engelsmanplate and Schiermonnikoog with 15 passengers on board. The KNRM-lifeboat "King William I" of the station Schiermonnikoog was called and it was decided that the passengers would be taken off as it was obvious that it would take a while to get the "Boschwad" refloated with the rising tide. They were taken off by the lifeboat "Edzard Jacob" and transferred to the "Koning William I" which took them to Lauwersoog while the crew of the "Boschwad" remained on board waiting for higher water levels.
