Bibby Offshore secures BP subsea contract

Thu Jul 07 10:39:03 CEST 2016 arnekiel

Bibby Offshore has announced that it has secured a contract to provide subsea services to BP in the North Sea. The 15 day project, due to commence in August 2016, will see diving support vessel Bibby Topaz, working on four BP operations across three of its North Sea assets. The platforms involved include Central North Sea-based asset Bruce, east of Shetland-based Magnus, and the Mirren field. http://splash247.com/bibby-offshore-secures-bp-subsea-contract/

Diver survived 262 feet deep after his supply line was cut

Tue Sep 25 10:21:25 CEST 2012 Timsen

A diver survived 40 minutes in the North Sea after air supply line was cut on Sep 18, 2012. With his fellow divers from the "Bibby Topaz" he inspected a drilling structure at the Huntington oil field, 115 miles east of Peterhead, Aberdeenshire. He was working 262 feet underwater when the boat vessel started drifting after a problem with its dynamic positioning system, causing the umbilical line to snag before becoming severed, leaving him with just his emergency oxygen tank. In line with safety procedures he remained still to conserve his air supply, but it was 38 minutes before his colleagues were able to find him and pull him to the safety of a diving bell, by which time he had fallen unconscious. He was quickly revived by the bellman, a diver who remained in the diving bell, and has made a full recovery after undergoing decompression treatment.
