Tug with barge allided with bridge
One person was injured after a barge of the "Bobby Jones" allided with the Crescent Bridge about 10 p.m. on June 17, 2013. The tug and barge hit the draw span of the bridge. The barge stopped near the bridge after the accident. It was traveling downstream and is owned by the Southern Towing Company in Memphis, Tennessee. Rescue crews had to pull the barge and tug away. Crews removed all debris from the river shortly after the incident. The Rock Island, Davenport, and Arsenal Emergency Crews responded to the scene.
