Collision in the Kiel Canal
In the evening of Jan 7, 2015, at 6:25 p.m. the "Elvi Kull" was in collision with the offshore supply vessel "JHC Transporter" in the Kiel Canal at km 88,7. The cargo ship suffered only scratches, whereas the "JHC Transporter" suffered significant damage. Both ships were ordered to berth in the North Port of Kiel for surveys and investigations. The "Elvi Kull" was then allowed to continue its voyage from Hamburg to Heiligenhafen. She left Kiel on Jan 8 at 7.50 a.m. and berthed at Heiligenhafen three hours later. The "JHC Transporter" which had suffered a gash above the waterline, had to be repaired first. It docked at the Knierim-Yard in Kiel around noon.
