Fishing vessel allided with unlighted detained ship
The Port Authority of Kalymnos was informed by the Captain of a fishing vessel, that it had allided with the 'Blue Shark', which was under detention, and anchored off the port of Kalymnos, in pos. 36 56 39 N, 027 0 09 E, duin the morning of Jan 2, 2024. The 'Blue Shark' did not have its mooring-deck lights on due to a fault in its generator. The impact resulted in damages to both vessels, but there were no injuries and no marine pollution . The Kalymnos Port Authority, which is conducting an investigation into the incident, banned the fishing vessel from sailing until a certificate of seaworthiness has been issued from the classification society monitoring the vessel.
Mechanical failure off Tilos
The Port Authority of Kalymnos was informed by the Greek Unified Center for Coordination of SAR about a mechanical failure of the 'Blue Shark', with nine crew members on board, in the vicinity of pos. 36 25 00 N, 027 16 00 E west of Tilos Island on Sep 21, 2023, at around noon. The ship was towed to the Kalymnos anchorage. The Kalymnos Port Authority has prohibited the vessel from departing the port until the damage has been repaired and the vessel has been issued with a class maintenance and seaworthiness certificates by the monitoring classification society. Additionally, the procedure for imposing administrative sanctions was initiated, as the Master of the 'Blue Shark' did not inform the Greek authorities about the mechanical failure as required.
