Yacht seized and to be auctioned
The 'Blue Shadow' has been seized in Cape Town as part of an ongoing legal dispute in a bid to recover financial compensation owed by the yacht's owner. The yacht's registered owner is the vice president of Equatorial Guinea. The yacht was impounded by the Sheriff of Cape Town East on Feb 7, 2023, and was set to be auctioned to recover compensatory funds owed by the owner. The 'Blue Shadow' was undergoing maintenance work when the seizure took place, and it will remain on the dock until the litigation has been finalised. It is not yet known when the next court proceeding will take place to determine the fate of the vessel.
