Tanker detained for illegal oil transfer
The "Black Fuel" with 14 crew members on board, was detained following an inspection by Ukrainian customs and border officials, at the Ukrainian port of Nikolayev, on Feb 15, 2019. The reason for the detention was stated as keresone fuel smuggling. The vessel had sailed from Agioi Theodoroi, with 2.300 tons of kerosene as cargo. In early February, the vessel mooredat an anchorage 15 kilometres from the port of Nikolayev, where 1.100 tons of fuel was offloaded to smaller vessels at the anchorage. Following a week at the anchorage, the "Black Fuel" entered Nikolayev, with an underload cargo of 1-200 tons of kerosene on board. The authorities stated that the vessel had caused financial damage to the State of Ukraine amounting up to US$370,000 in customs fees, which the smugglers were obliged to pay.
Vessel arrested in Odessa for human smuggling
The "Bospor" was arrested in Odessa on June 8, 2017. During the years 2015-2017 the vessel was engaged in smuggling of some 100 Ukrainian seamen from Ukraine to the Crimea Peninsula. The Crimea has special laws defining its status and all aspects of dealing with occupied territory, including border crossing and employment. The owner of the vessel is facing the confiscation of the vessel, with estimated costs of 1.7 million Dollar.
