Grounded ferry back in port after more than three months

Sun May 27 15:36:24 CEST 2012 Timsen

The "Maverick Dos" was finally taken to the port Moll de la Pansa in Denia on May 24. The 110-tons-crane which had lifted the ship from the rocks of the island Sa Turreta and the ferry crossed the Canal d'Eivissa each on a separate pontoon. At 8 a.m. the crane was visible from the coast, and shortly after 10.30 a.m. the ship entered port and is now being surveyed by technicians. The salvage plan de was developed by Protection and Indemnity Insurance, the stability calculated by the engineering company Cotenaval at the Colegio Oficial de Ingenieros Navales. Ship's owners Baleària presented the plan to the Capitanía Marítima d'Eivissa and the government for approval. Since its grounding, the ferry was replaced by the "Ibiza Jet" of Trasmapi. BIMINI BLUE MARLIN 8921937

Fri May 25 10:13:54 CEST 2012 Timsen

The positioning of the "Maverick Dos" onto a barge on May 24, 2012, took longer than expected. Though the vessel was removed from its grounding site a large crane mounted on a barge, which was towed by the "Gorgos" in the afternoon of May 23, the transport to Denia shipyard did not take place immediately afterwards. The ship remained high above the water hanging in the crane's slings. With the first light of May 24 the last phase of the operation was resumed. The ship was still hanging in the cables of the crane. At 10.30 a.m. the ferry was lowered onto the deck of the second barge which was being towed by the "Charuca Silveira". The journey to the yard, commenced around 12.30, with a speed of four knots, followed by the barge with the crane used by the Usabiaga company.
