Schedule adjusted for repairs

Fred. Olsen has adjusted the schedule between La Luz and Morro Jable to repair the "Betancuria Express". The new schedule will be in effect between July 20 and August 11 fpr the repair of one of the four main engines. The ship was waiting to receive a spare and now the company has opted to adjust the schedules. During the last days the ship suffered some slight delays due to the moderate speed with which the ship was operated in the face of difficulties that the engine caused.

Turbine damage in adverse weather

The "Batancuria Express" suffered a technical problem in one of the waterjet turbines between Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and Morro Jable on Fuerteventura in adverse wind conditions adverse weather conditions with gusts of more than 30 knots on July 5, 2019, at 8 p.m. and was unable to dock in Morro Jable on July 6. The ferry had to return to Gran Canaria with 430 passengers on board. After repairing the damage, the crossing was made the same day, and the ferry docked at the pier of Morro Jable on Fuerteventura. The ferry company promised the affected passengers to refund the tickets.

Fast ferry sold to Fred Olsen subsidiary

The "Leonora Christina" has been sold by Danske Færger to a company belonging to the Norwegian shipping group Fred Olsen. On Dec 14, 2016, she was registered by the Ferry Gomera S.L.U, Subida El Mayorazgo No. 4C, 38110 Santa Cruz de Tenerife. The Spanish subsidiary of Fred Olsen SA, based in Santa Cruz, operates five routes between the Canary Islands. The "Leonora Christina" continues to sail in bareboat charter from the new owners until the termination of the contract for the Rønne-Ystad route on Sep 1, 2018.
