Cargo ship ran onto rock massif
On Feb 21, 2024, the 'Bergjord' ran onto a rock massif in Ksamil due to a suspected defect of the steering system en route to Hereke with a cargo of scrap and an ETA as of Feb 25. After communication with the captaincy of the port of Saranda, the ship was towed to the Limion marina, where the ship was docked without problems. It had suffered damage at the bow and the port side foreship, which was heavily dented and possible breached, causing a port side list. The situation was to be evaluated by regarding the ship's navigational compliance. Bergfjord sank fishing boat
In the morning of March 25, 2021, the 'Bergfjord' was in collision with a fishing boat southeast of Ravenna, enroute from Shengjin to Ravenna. The boat sank, the four fishermen on board were rescued. The 'Bergfjord' continued the voyage and berthed at Piomboni in Ravenna at 2.20 p.m.
Crew member died in engine room
The Port Authority of Amaliapolis was informed on Aug 24, 2020, at noon by the agent of the 'Bergfjord' which was moored in Almyros, that a 63-year-old crew member lost consciousness while doing cleaning work in the engine room. The man was taken by ambulance to the Almyros Health Center, where he was pronounced dead. The body was transported to the Larissa Forensic Medicine Service for an autopsy-necropsy. A preliminary investigation was carried out by the 3rd Port Department of Amaliapolis of the Central Port Authority of Volos.
