Man died after falling overboard following supply of bulkcarrier
A man who fell overboard a ship on Nov 13, 2012, has died despite being rescued by officers from the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) and the Police Coast Guard (PCG). The MPA had received a call in the night about a drifting craft and two men spotted in the waters of the Eastern Bunkering Anchorage, about 3.5 km away from the south of East Coast Parkway. Two MPA crafts and one PCG craft were activated for the rescue mission. The two men were rescued at 25 minutes later at 9:10 p.m. They have been identified as the master of a supply craft and a chandler of a Singaporean ship. The ship chandler was unconscious when he was rescued and passed away after being sent to the hospital. The supply craft master was returned to his craft after being rescued. He told officers that the Singaporean ship chandler fell into the water while disembarking from the "Cape Fushen" after he had delivered ship store. The master tried to rescue the man by jumping into the water with a life jacket on. The incident was being investigated by MPA, PCG and the Ministry of Manpower (MOM).
