Saga saga ended
On Jan 16 at 11.25 the "Saga" which was stuck near Ruckasing could be refloated with own power after the water level rose due to rainfalls. The ship proceeded to Deggendorf. Third salvage attempt failed
After two previously failed salvage attempts also the third attempt to refloat the "Saga" on the Danube at Winzer by the Slowakian 2000-hp-pusher vessel "SPIS", which had gone alongside the casualty, had to be abandoned after more than two hours. Danube temporarily closed after grounding
On Jan 13, 2014, the "Saga" ran aground on the Danube near Deggendorf. The accident happened as the ship left the fairway due to a navigational mistake of the 52 year old, Serbian master who ran the ship on a gravel bar on the left river side The Danube was temporarily closed to ship traffic.
