Minor fire on roro ferry

In the morning of Nov 13, 2015, a fire broke out aboard the "Finnkraft" in the Vuosaari port of Helsinki. In the bow area a stairwell had caught fire. The crew of 14 managed to get the fire under control with smoke divers before the arrival of rescue services which were alerted at 11.06 a.m. and attended with strong forces as were also up to 40 passengers mistakenly thought to have been possibly on board. No one was, however, injured, but the toxic smoke had time to spread over several decks up to the bridge. The damage was restricted to the engine room. The concerned areas were ventilated. The ship had arrived from Gdynia on 5.20 a.m.

On Mar 18 the "Finnkraft", which had run aground on the Trave near Schlutup following an engine blackout the previous day, was still at Vorwerk port undergoing investigations. The ship after having refloated itself had been stabilised by the workboat "Pirol" prevented it from drifting perpendicular to the Trave due to wind and current and running aground again on the souterh embankment with its stern, until the tug "Axel" had arrived from Luebeck to escort the vessel to a berth. Divers were then sent down to survey the hull of the „Finnkraft". Until the decision of the trade association in Hamburg the ship remeined detained. The water police Lübeck - Travemünde has launched an investigation. None of the 16 persons on board was hurt. The "Finnkraft" ran aground on the Trave near Schlutup when coming from Turku on Mar 17, 2011, at 8.56 a.m. The ship refloated with own power and anchored on deeper water at the Schlutup narrow. A Luebeck based tug was called and towed the vessel to the Vorwerk Port at Luebeck around 11 a.m. The grounding was caused by a technical malfunction.
