Deadly accident in Vienna
A 43 year old Hungarian crew member of the "Belvedere" died on Nov 1, 2014, at 2 a.m. during a mooring manoever in the Danuba Marina of Vienna in Leopoldstadt. The man fell over the railing into the Danube when the cruise ship docked alongside another vessel which was at the quay and drifted away. Though he was recovered soon by other crew members with a dinghy, who tried to resuscitate him, he died. An autopsy was ordered by the prosecutors. Belvedere repairs expected to be completed on May 17
Trans Ocean announced that the "Belvedere" will resume its cruises on May 17 so that the longest scheduled voyages may take place as planned once the repairs are completed at the ÖSWAG Yard in Linz. The passengers of the cruise during which the ship allided with a bridge had been transferred onto the "Bolero". For the following cruises the "Dertour Mozart" was inserted as a replacment.
Belvedere towed to Linz
On Apr 28 the "Belvedere" was towed from Passau to the Linzer Shipyard alongside the river cruise ship "Bolero". In the afternoon the ships started towards Linz with the debris of the destroyed wheelhouse of the "Belvedere" visible on the foreship beside the anchor winch.
