Freighter stopped by base jumoper in Kiel Canal
The 'BBC Ganges' had to stop in the Kiel Canal during its westbound transit enroute from Rostock to Campana on April 23, 2020, because a base jumper sprang from the Levensau Bridge at Kiel-Suchsdorf. The police Kiel was alerted short past 4 p.m. by a car driver who saw a man jumoing from the bridge with a bag pack. Another witness remarked a person with a wind suit just before the freighter passed which then stopped at the bridge. The ship was able to resume the voyage with slow speed. The traffic control Kiel Canal barred the waterway to look for the person.
