Barge refloated, river free again

The "Bavaria 83", 2792 ts (EU-No.: 04502760), which had run aground on the Danube aground near Parkstetten in the Straubing-Bogen region near the B20-brige on Sep 29 at 2.30 a.m. refloated without assistance at 1.30 p.m. supported by the strong river current. The ship was emergency anchored a short distance from the grounding site, and the river was re-opened for ship traffic at 1.45 p.m. Experts surveyed the damage to the ship at the anchoring site.

Danube traffic barred after ship grounding

Ship traffic on the Danube had to be stopped completely in the early morning of Sep 29 after the "Bavaria 83" ran aground near Parkstetten in the Straubing-Bogen region on a sand bar and got perpendicular to the fairway. The ship was enroute from Regensburg to Enns with a cargo of 1600 tons construction steel. Bow and stern of the ship were stuck on both river shores.

Bavaria 83 resumed voyage, search for missing boaties going on

The "Bavaria 83", 2792 ts (EU-No.: 04502760), which was underway on the Main near Aschaffenburg-Obernau with a cargo of 1200 tons soy bound for Obernau when the speedboat "Born 2 Porn" slammed into it on May 19, was allowed to continue its voyage on May 20 after the inspections were finished. Meanwhile the search for the two missing boat occupants was continued with the help of sonar, but to no avail yet. The other two, among them the boat driver, remained in hospital with fractures etc.
