Crew member tested positive for COBID 19
One crew member of the 'Bastø 1' has been tested positive for Covid-19, in the afternoon of Dec 2. There has been no danger that the person in question has infected the passengers. The ferry was last in service on Nov 27. Bastø Fosen worked closely with Horten municipality's infection tracking team to map close contacts. The ferry had already been taken out of service before the person who has now been confirmed infected was contagious which meant that the passengers in Bastø Fosen have not been exposed to the risk of infection.
Significant damage in storm ride
The 'Bastø 1' left the port of Horten again on Jan 14 at 7.40 p.m. after the fire brigade had managed to remove the overturned trailer, and berthed in Moss short past 8 p.m. During the day, damaged vehicles were transported away on trailers for further investigations. One private vehicle was completely smashed and several other cars were damaged. Another truck was also thrown around during the rough crossing during which everything came from tables with chairs flying and plates shattered, and damaged other cars. The driver of the overturned truck was injured in the incident. Luckily no one was inside the cars. Trailer overturned on ferry
In the morning of Jan 14, 2020, a trailer overturned over several cars on board the 'Bastø 1' ten minutes off Horten uring its crossing of the Oslo Fjord between Moss in Østfold and Horten in Vestfold. One vehicle was smashed when a trailer overturned. Another truck was thrown around aboard. One person, the truck driver, was injured. At 8.26 a.m. the ferry berthed at the quay in Horten, and the Vestfold inter-municipal fire department and emergency services were on site. No dangerous goods have been reported. At 8.40 a.m. the plice stated that they were in control of the situation. The fire department is working to secure the accident site. There was some diesel leakage from the trailer, and the fire department has filled up ten to twelve bags of absorbent bark. It was not yet know why the truck overturned. The ferry company Bastø Fosen launched an investigation. As a result of the accident, the departures of the 'Bastø 1' have been canceled for the time being, while the other ferries on the route were operating normal.
