Suledrott grounded at Kragerø
The "Suledrott" ran aground in Kragerø on July 28, 2017, at 3 a.m. at Galeioddåå. The ship had come from Tønsberg and was enroute to Kragerø to pick up a cargo of stones bound to Denmark. It was unloaded when it got stuck. The ship was helped by a taxi boat to get off the rocks and berthed in Kragerø at 7.15 a.m. where divers checked the hull. The police will investigate the matter further. The Norwegian Maritime Directorate will also conduct investigations into the matter. No suspicion on drugs at the helm, no injuries, no spill reported. After the surveys the ship left the port Kragerø again and was docked at the Agger Værft in the port of Thyborøn on July 31 for repairs at 1.10 p.m. Norwegian report with photos: https://www.ta.no/nyheter/kragero/bat/i-natt-lastebat-gikk-pa-skjar/s/5-50-388632
Ship ran into rock off Averøy
Enroute Haugesund-Averøy the "Suledrott" ran aground off Sunnmøre in the Bøfjord, Herøy, in the morning of Sep 16, 2012 at 5.36 a.m. The ship got stuck on the Kirkholm rock at the height of the Hurtigruten quay in Torvika with a crew of 5 on board. The lifeboat "Halfdan Grieg" was on scene already in the night hours, and with the rising tide it was able to pull the casualty, which had a slight list to port, off just before 8 a.m., three hours earlier than the police had expected this to happen with the highest flood level. The "Suledrott" continued to Averøy with own power where divers of the "Halfdan Grieg" was sent down to check the hull. They found a hole in the bulb at the bottom of the bow and took in some water. The water ingress could be controlled. At 10.24 a.m. the "Suledrott" was berthed at the ISPS-terminal pier at Torvika in Herøy.
