Medevac in storm off Pointe du Raz

In the early morning of Feb 2, 2017, a fisherman, aged 47, aboard the "Bara Dous" was evacuated by helicopter to the hospital of La Cavale-Blanche in Brest. At 01:57 a.m. the CROSS Coren was informed by the Maritime Coordination Center in Toulouse that a crew member of the trawler had suffered a dislocated shoulder. The "Bara Dous" was sailing in full storm force 27 nautical miles west of the Pointe du Raz. Following a conference call with the Maritime Medical Consultation Center in Toulouse, the Maritime Medical Coordination in Finistère and the ship, the decision was taken to evacuate the sailor by helicopter to the center Hospital of Brest. The CROSS deployed a Cayman helicopter from the Lanvéoc-Poulmic naval base with a medical team on board. It took off at 03:20 a.m. and reached the trawler which was caught in waves of more than six meters height and gusts blowing at nearly 100 km/h. At 3.50 a.m. the medical team was dropped off on the heavliy rolling trawler. It took an hour of work to the medical team to prepare the injured. At 04.45 a.m. he was hoisted aboard the Cayman. The helicopter then headed towards the hospital center of La Cavale Blanche where the man was taken in care at 5 a.m.

Medevac after fisherman suffered burns

On Sep 21, 2014, at 09:30 a.m. the CROSS Corsen was alerted after a crew member of the "Bara Dous" had suffered burns of first and second degree on board. After a conference call between the center of maritime medical consultation (CCMM) in Toulouse, the trawler and the CROSS, a medical evacuation of the French man, aged 31, was decided. The trawler was 68 miles west of Brest. The CROSS Corsen dispatched a Cayman helicopter of the Navy Flotilla 33F which took off at 10:20 a.m. from the naval air base Lanvéoc-Poulmic with a medical team on board. Around 11:00 a.m., the Cayman airlifted the injured man and took him to the hospital Cavale Blanche in Brest where he was delivered at noon.
