Freighter refloated, mate drug tested
The "Baltiyskiy 108" refloated with the high tide in the afternoon of Sep 30. The ship anchored off the coast, while the ship's bottom was to be examined by divers. The ship's mate had been taken ashore to give a blood sample after an alcohol meter testing had shown that the man had a blood alcohol above the permitted limit. Th eDansih SOK had tried several times unsuccessfully to get in contact with the ship via VHF to warn it that it was off course. But it failed to response and ran aground.

Bound from Kingston-upon-Hull to Riga, the "Baltiyskiy 108" ran agroudn in the night of Sep 30, 2011, east of Rødbyhavn. The helmamN was brought ashore to provide a blood sample. The ship is carrying a cargo of machinery. There was no danger to the crew, and no pollution reported. Owner and insurance company must now prepare a salvage plan to be approved by the Danish authorities.
