BALTIC MERCHANT 9138202
The "Baltic Merchant" had to take shelter in the port of Cuxhaven in the evening of Oct 19 as it was in danger of losing its deck cargo of rotor blades and a tower section built by Nordex for windfarms. The ship had departed from Emden bound for Sweden on Oct 18 at 4.25 p.m. In stormy weather the lashings gave way, and the ship proceeded to Cuxhaven where it moored at the Helgoland Quay on Oct 20 at 8.30 p.m. First it had been intended that a Wulf tug would approach the vessel with new lashings to fix the shifting blades while the vessel was anchoring at Cuxhaven roads. But due to the severe seas it was decided that the ship should enter port to get the cargo fixed.
