BBC Chile grounded on St. Lawrence River

Fri Jun 06 09:55:15 CEST 2014 Timsen

The "BBC Chile" ran aground in the St. Lawrence River a few miles above the entrance of the South Shore Canal on June 4, 2014. The vessel which had sailed from Montreal around 5 p.m. and was bound for Duluth, got out of the channel as it was entering Lake St. Louis and got stuck on foul ground on the south side of the channel, north of Ile Saint Bernard. Only a small portion of her stern was extending out into the channel, which allowed one-way traffic. Some ships have been delayed for a few hours. The Le Groupe Ocean tugs "Ocean Ross Gaudreault" and "Ocean Intrepide" were called and successfully pulled off the "BBC Chile" in the night of June 5. The ship mooored in the Beauhamois Canal near Melocheville.
