Trawler grounded in Arran
The 'Auriga-AR 147' ran aground, near Brodick Bay, Arran, in position 55 33 30 N, 005 05 31 W, well within the boundaries of the Arran South Marine Protected Area, on Aug 6, 2020, at 04.08 a.m. The Arran CRT and the RNLI boat from Arran were tasked to provide safety cover to the vessel. Another fishing vessel, the 'Bon Ami', came to assist and managed to pull the 'Auriga' off. t took three attempts to get her off the rocks and on the second attempt the tow line parted under the strain. The third attempt brought success. Disabled vessel towed to Whitehaven
The Workington RNLI all-weather lifeboat "Sir John Fisher" was called out by the Coastguard on three separate occasions recently in the early hours of Mar 19, 2015, around 1.25 a.m. when reports came in about the "New Venture" with a crew of three being in difficulties off the Cumbrian coast. The vessel with a rope around its propeller was located and towed back safely to Whitehaven harbour.
