Offenses found during police control
During a routine inspection of the "Nodic Helsinki" on July 9, 2013, officials of the Water Police Stade found two offenses: A 48-year-old engineer had illegally stored several cubic meters of oil sludge inside the ship, and was now facing criminal charges for illegal storage of oily waste. It was also noted that the 39-year-old captain of the ship had not documented the required transformation of high-to low-sulfur fuel. Because of this offense a security deposit of 530 Euros was imposed on the captain. The investigation was ongoing. The ship which had come from Rouen on July 8 was allowed to leave bound for Port Alfred on July 9 aroudn 10 p.m.
