Altmühlperle hit by Dutch cabin cruiser
On Mar 31, 2013, at 11.19 a.m. the "Altmühlperle" was in collision with the Dutch cabin cruiser "Serenity" on the Rhein-Main-Donau Canal which was transiting the canal with 160 passengers downward towards Kelheim. The ship stopped to allowe the passage of an approaching vessel and hit the "Altmühlperle" which was berthed at the quay Kelheim/altmühl with its starboard stern. The bow of the German ship was damaged as well as the aft of the Dutch vessel. The damage was estimated to be around 35000 Euro, the police Beilngries launched an investigation. The "Altmühlperle" had on board 130 passengers bound for Riedenburg. No one was injured. The "Altmühlperle" was dented on a length of 10,5 meters and the railings damaged. The "Serenity" proceeded towards Budapest, the "Altmühlperle" will need a yard stay for repairs, the trip had to be cancelled.
