Coast Guard crews aid ailing man on fishing vessel
The Coast Guard came to the aid of a man who became ill while aboard a fishing vessel in waters off southern New Jersey. Staffers from the Atlantic Warrior contacted Coast Guard watchstanders around 9:30 p.m. Saturday (March 30) to report a 42-year-old man was experiencing pain and required medical assistance. At the time, the vessel was about 60 miles southeast of Ocean City. Watchstanders dispatched an MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew from Coast Guard Air Station Atlantic City to the scene, along with an HC-130 Hercules aircraft from Coast Guard Air Station Elizabeth City, N.C. The Dolphin helicopter crew lowered a rescue swimmer to the deck of the Atlantic Warrior to help the ailing man. The two were then hoisted into the helicopter, which took the man to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center.
