Allision in Puerto de Colonia

Wed Feb 26 10:38:36 CET 2020 Timsen

On Feb 25, 2020, at 7 p.m. the 'Atlantic Express' allided with one of the retaining walls of the Port of Colonia upon its arrival from Buenos Aires with 260 passengers on board. The ship hit a small metal defense on the dock, which turned and opened a gap below the waterline, causing water ingress in the engine room. The passengers were able to get off safely. The crew started dewatering the vessel, and divers were hired to patch the hull. An accurate bilge and containment work was carried out to prevent bilge water from spilling as well as a hydrocarbon contamination. An oil boom was laid out. The ship will now be repaired permanently at a yard in Buenos Aires after the administrative procedures. After a complete damage assessment and a repair it will be inspected by the Prefecture that will determine if it is seaworthy again. The passengers embarked on other ships to cross the Río de la Plata. Spanish report with video: https://www.subrayado.com.uy/taparon-averia-buque-colonia-express-n603659

Trimaran damagen in severe weather

Wed Nov 26 10:18:51 CET 2014 Timsen

On Nov 22, 2014, the "Golden Blaze" entered the port of Las Palmas in Gran Canaria for repairs. The vessel had sustained minor hull damage at the center hull due to severe weather which the trimaran had encountered north of the Canary Islands, while on passage from Perama, where she had left on Nov 15, bound to Uruguay, to commence a new charter. Heavy weather had broken the anchor free and pushed it upwards into the hull. There was also minor damage to the aft part of the portside hull. A local Lloyds Surveyor was in attendance.
