Medevac after fall into hatch
The Maritime Search and Rescue Center in Vietnam medevaced a seriously wounded Chinese sailor from the "Seiyo Honor" off the Vietnamese territorial waters and transported him to the hospital for treatment. He Liming, 30, fell suddenly from a height of seven meters into a hatch while working on the deck of the ship in the morning of Dec 9, 2017. He suffered serious injuries to his back and chest. The "Seiyo Honor", which was heading from the port of Bong Sen in Ho Chi Minh City to the port of Kelang was about 68 nautical miles southwest of the South Vietnamese province of Ba Ria-Vung Tau at that time. The sailor's condition worsened so the captain sent an emergency rescue request to the center. The Vietnamese party then instructed the ship to return to the city of Vung Tau, along with guidance on medical first aid. At the same time, the vessel "SAR 413" with doctors on board was deployed to assist. With the medical care of the doctors, the condition of the victim improved. After arriving in Vung Tau, he was taken to the France-Vietnam Hospital in Ho Chi Minh City to receive more care and treatment.
