Bangkok Post newspaper messed things up and managed to make mistakes in everything, from both vessels names to the situation in general. m/v Unison Vigor was docked at pier managed by Kerry Logistics, Siam Seaport, unloading rolled steel. m/v Ocean Flavor was berthing and struck m/v Unison Vigor, which sank along the berth with cargo on board, some 2000 mt or 8000 mt of steel destined for car factories. I’ve been trying to find out details from Kerry Logistics, but they were extremely uncooperative, notwithstanding my journalist ID and status. Nearby is an office of JC Marine Services, specializing in port construction works. They told me they may do the salvage, at least they’re making calculations. No way to approach sunken vessel, a very long pier is fiercely protected. Somehow on of the police guarding the place was seriously injured by a broken rope. The only way to look at the place is to hire private boat and approach pier from seaside. From what I gather, Unison Vigor is fully submerged, though I doubt that everything including top parts of supesctructure went underwater. Frankly, I don’t know what to do – come there tomorrow and try to hire a boat? Maritime Bulletin, Voytenko Mikhail.
