Tanker suffered steam leak

On March 17, 2018, at 10.30 a.m. the "Maersk Erin" suffered a steam leak in the engine room in position 50 21 28.8 N, 000 26 16.8W. The damage was reported to the to National Maritime Operations Centre of the British Coastguard. The vessel was contacted by VHF by the Solent Coastguard and confirmed that the defect was rectified at 10.43 a.m. The tanker resumed its passage from Primorsk to Lorient, where it dropped anchor off the port on March 18 at 7 p.m.

Tanker rescued 23 migrants, about a hundred more missing

Four migrants have died and about a hundred others were missing following the capsizing of an inflatable boat that transported 122 migrants off Libya on Nov 14, 2016, at 6 a.m. 23 survivors were taken on board the "Maersk Erin". The conditions at sea were descriped as terrible. The survivors were transferred onto the NGO-vessel "Aquarius" chartered by SOS Méditerranée and Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) in the afternoon of Nov 15. The tanker meanwhile berthed in Al Zawiyah.
