Medevac off La Réunion

Fri Apr 07 13:58:43 CEST 2017 Timsen

On April 6, 2017, a helicopter of the gendarmerie evacuated an Indonesian seaman of 40 years from the "Ascanius" which was enroute from Singapore to Rio Grande. The patient was suffering from severe fevers and was transported to the Félix Guyon hospital in Saint-Denis. The helicopter of the gendarmerie air section (SAG) was deployed at 2 p.m. The CROSS coordinated the operation and organization of the evacuation of the patient with the SAMU and the gendarmerie. The ship, located 85 km from La Réunion, had come closer to the coast and was about 12 km from the bay of Saint-Paul when the patient was hoisted and taken to the hospital Félix Guyon of Saint-Denis.
