Arrested Russian tanker to be sold at auction
The 'Tecoil Polaris', which was arrested by the local court at Hull on Dec 1, 2018, will be sold at auction by UK shipbroker CW Kellockconsidering the Admiralty Marshal's condition of sale, on March 7, 2022. The vessel remained stationary and still under arrest at Hull for the time being.
Debts of tanker settled
The captain of the "Tecoil Polaris" which was detained in the UK in 2018 over safety concerns has avoided the ship being seized. Vitaliy Trofimov has paid up more than £25,000 in fines, first issued in June by Hull Magistrates Court. A catalogue of “extremely serious” safety failures including incorrect navigation charts and defective lifesaving equipment were found on the tanker when it arrived at Humber Point in June. The prosecution was brought by the Maritime and Coastguard Agency for breaches in the International Safety Management (ISM) code. The court ordered the fines were paid within 56 days and a follow-up hearing about non-payment was due yesterday. As of 3.30 p.m. on Feb 27, 2019, all fines and costs were paid in full, avoiding the permanent seizure of the "Tecoil Polaris" to settle the debt.
Detention
This vessel was still detained on 30th November 2018
